Blog 4: My favorite movie

Hello! Today i’m going to talk about my favorite movie: Sieranevada. This is a Romanian film, directed by Cristi Puiu and released in 2016.

The story is about a family that gathers for lunch 40 days after the death of the father, to mourn together. In the meeting, all the problems that this family has, the conflicts because of differences of opinion, and the unresolved issues appear.

The film is 3 hours long, so it makes you feel like you're living that situation too: the family chaos, the exhausting moments where you just want to leave that family meeting, and the funny moments in the middle of the chaos. Also, the camera moves on sequence shots, following the characters, so that makes the experience even more real, because you see the transit that the characters take around the house and the different conversations they have in each room.

Something that is very exasperating in the film is that they never sit at the table to eat, because new situations and discussions are presented all the time, so that doesn’t let them be calm and eat together, which was why in the beginning they were having a meeting.

I really recommend this movie. I think it reflects something that most of us live in our families.
